I decided to do MMA because I wanted a total body workout and wanted to learn new fighting techniques. This is a new experience for me and I totally love it. The instructors at Victory are awesome. I have taken Melissa and Kyle’s kickboxing class and its a total body workout. Be prepared to sweat, Melissa is a beast. I’ve also enjoyed Adam’s MMA class he’s very patient with new students and a fun instructor to work with. If want to get in shape and meet new people and be in a friendly, fun, family type atmosphere then Victory is the place for you.
Peace.

I know I’m new to the family, but I just wanted to throw out a thank you for being such a positive force in my life. Victory is truly inspiring me to be a better person, and to have a new kind of faith in myself which I thought I had lost. I never thought that when I started here I would find such a great place. = )

Through high school I was a 3 sport athlete doing football cheerleading and volleyball. My senior year I even did a double season of cheerleading and volleyball at the same time. coming from such a high level of athletics I expected to be able to do most of this stuff pretty easily and I had never even began to think that there was a completely different level of athleticism inside me. Victory martial arts have so much to offer, not only in the form of a workout everytime you go but the people there are phenomenal. I walked in and after 2 sessions felt like I had been training with these people for years. but that’s not even the best part, Victory martial arts has helped me in the way I go about my day, the mentality that I have received is priceless, it’s something that can never be replaced and makes things in your life easier to deal with. Skeptical? I was too, believe me when I say this is something worth trying.

Hi My name is Paul Sepanovich and I would like to talk to you about Victory Martial Arts. After a long and often intimidating search of Martial Art’s schools I found Victory Martial Arts by accident, but now I like to think it was fate instead of an accident that brought me here. I have always been somewhat of a slacker my whole life, never wanting to push my self to accomplish my goals. Whether it be going to the gym, eating healthier or pushing myself in my profession, I’ve always had an excuse to tell myself. After finally forcing myself I mustered up the courage to go to the school.
My first time there I was extremely intimidated. Here’s all these people hoping and flying around practicing all these moves and combo’s that I know NOTHING about! Even though I knew nothing the staff and my fellow students took the time and patience to explain and re-explain what I needed to do. I have never felt so much compassion and camaraderie before. This isn’t your everyday run of the mill type of school. Here you have people that really care about each other and will do anything they can to help you go that extra mile. Even though I have only been at the school a short time I can already feel the impact that Dion and everyone at Victory Martial Arts has had on me.
I don’t make excuses anymore, I feel better physically and I have been able to focus and expand my core values and I thank you Dion and everyone at Victory Martial arts from the bottom of my heart. If your looking for a no nonsense, experienced group of people that really do care about you, the individual Then look no further then Victory Martial arts. Thank you and I hope to see you in class one day soon.

I first had the desire to study martial arts at the age of 16.A friend of mine was studying Kung fu.
Sometimes when we got together,he would show me some ‘katas’.
I was really impressed with the way they flowed and the athleticism that was required.
Very shortly after we started a somewhat regular training regimen,my friend was killed in a motorcycle accident.
From time to time I thought about training, but really didn’t know where I wanted to train or even what ‘style’ I wanted to learn.
If I was going to train,it had to be in the most practical, efficient and effective discipline available.I had no idea what that was or even how to find an honest answer.
Then in the mid 90′s, I met Mr.Riccardo.
Based on his genuine sincerity and passion for training,it didn’t take long for me to realize
that I wanted to train with him. He offered what I had been looking for all this time.A complete
self defense system.
My very first class consisted of 5 other students-in gis. All 5 of them made it their business to armbar me at least once. I remember sitting in my car after that class feeling pretty ticked off-because of my pride,of course-asking myself if I really needed this
After some really serious contemplation,I decided that not only was I going to stick with it,but I was determined to give those guys a taste of their own medicine. As I trained,I began to realize that training wasn’t just about ‘beating’ my training partners. It was about helping each other develop into the best martial artists that we could be,and when I look back on that,I realize what a revelation that was for me. To be able to humble myself and put my ego aside in order that I could give freely of myself to my fellow students.
I have always been impressed with the way Sifu teaches. Beside the great techniques he brings to the table,he has such a gift for not only relating the material in a way that can be understood, but he also knows how to inspire the student.
A great teacher.
This school has been so much more than just a gym where I can come to train. It has influenced every area of my life.
Back in the mid 90′s when I was here,I was going through some really, really rough
patches in my life.I mean, there were days when I literally felt like I couldn’t take one more step.
However, being able to walk through these doors(back then it was Progressive Martial Arts Academy) provided me with sanctuary.I could work out on the bags,do some sparring and talk with my peers. At the end of the night,I felt as though my burden had been lifted. My head was cleared and I always left feeling stronger than when I arrived.
This school is indirectly responsible for me meeting my wife.
One year I was getting a tax return and really wanted to get away for a week.
I was telling one of my training partners that I wasn’t sure about where I wanted to go-maybe Las Vegas?
His reply was ‘Oh dude, you gotta go to Jamaica! Some of my buddies are going! It’s gonna be a party!’
Well,I followed through on his suggestion, and after 10 years of going there,I met Marsha
on what was to be my last visit !Praise God!
Even more than that however, because of my relationship with Mr.Riccardo through Victory,I am happy to say that I was led to Christ .I’ve been saved.
You know,Victory has given me a sense of purpose and direction in my life. I am fulfilled and thankful to have had the opportunity to train and teach here.
I am thankful for everyone who has ever walked through these doors.I will never be able to give back to this school all that it has given me.
This belt is an accomplishment, however,it is merely a checkpoint along a journey on which I have so much yet to learn.
What a great Success Story however, the story does not end there. Scott has big plans for opening a Victory in Jamaica in the near future!

I chose Victory because a friend of mine spoke very highly of the Academy. After joining I clearly saw why. I have gained so much confidence in myself within the academy as well as in my everyday life. I have also gained strength and am in much better physical condition than I was before I started. I can thank the instructors and staff 100% for everything!!

My best day at victory was the day I tried out for the competition team. It was quite the workout and experience to know what was coming next. I chose Victory since I was looking for a place and my friend from school referred it to me. Ironically the place happened to be down the block from me. I recommend Victory Martial Arts because it’s not just any other place. When you’re at Victory, you’re treated like family, so you’re also taught like you’re family. Definitely check it out.

My best day at Victory so far was the day I walked in the door. Anyone that is involved in martial arts(or other challenging endeavors) knows that the hardest part is often just getting started.I wasn’t sure of what to expect from Victory though I knew Mr. Riccardo’s reputation and background through my own research I conducted before choosing a martial arts school. That first day Mr. Buonaconti left a huge impression on me that still resontates today. He is a great instructor that instills a great work ethic in his students. I really felt like I accomplished something by the end of his class. He challenged me and I hadn’t been challenged like that in a long time. I can say now a year and a half later that that day truly changed my life. There have been other challenges along the way as I keep setting my goals and resetting my goals so I always have something to strive for. Victory gives me the platform from which to launch and reach these goals. I choose Victory because it was close to my house and seemed reputable. I stayed with Victory because it has changed and continues to change and mold my life and who I am. I recommend Victory Martial Arts to anyone that wants to make a postive change in their life. Mr. Riccardo and the Victory staff are all excellent instructors with a fantastic program. The Victory Family is just that, a family. I’ve made great relationships through the school that will last a lifetime. We all help each other grow every time we meet and that’s part of what makes Victory so great.

Today marked the 6 month mark since I joined your school give or take a week or 2. I’ve been meaning to write both of you about how much I enjoy coming to the Orland Victory gym every Tuesday and Thursday, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. Today I’m making time for it because it was probably the busiest and most stressful day I’ve seen in awhile. I was drained and debating whether to just call it a day after a long day at work but I knew as soon as I stepped foot on that mat tonight, I’d have a complete turn around of a day. Long story short, I tested for my sixth month’s curriculum today under Jason Kinnan and my stress took a back seat ever since. I dont wanna write a book of an email describing exactly every little detail about how great and wonderful your gym is because I dont wanna bore you. The reason why I go now, is completely different from why I first joined. Likewise, I feel much better about myself and my training than sixth months ago. The family atmosphere, how everyone is stays positive but structured, how I can call the people I train with loyal friends, the heart pounding diabolical conditioning, the blood/bruises/sweat, the laughter before and after each practice, the feeling of a 16oz glove hitting a thai pad or shin to a heavy bag, the heavy sleeping after a long practice, the Facebook comments, everything from getting into my car to go to your gym to the time I wake up and do it again I thoroughly enjoy. I’m not interested in becoming a competitive fighter, I’m not doing this to look “cool” or seem like I’m a “bad ass”, I’m just doing this to better myself morally, physically, and mentally. Fortunately I’m a very lucky person who has lots of positive role models in my life. I’m proud to say that the Victory family are among those that I look up too each day. I wish I could just sit and listen to mat talk time with Adam Grisko everyday, or train till my legs gave out every day with my instructor/best friend/and roommate Rhett Wheeler but I’m slowly accepting this school into a bigger part of my busy schedule and lifestyle. I want to thank you for your dedication to keeping the values of this school in focus. I’m honored to train under the Riccardo name. Please feel free to email me with anything you’d like cause I feel like I’m in your debt. I’m lucky to have been introduced to so many nice and friendly people including your family. Okay its getting late and this is turning into the book I was trying to avoid. Thanks again!

Today was one of my favorite days. I almost rolled back to sleep this morning but I took a deep breath and headed out the door. As I raised the volume on the radio I knew it was going to be a good day. 8am submission team followed by 9am comp team. I gave it a 100% and Anthony B was right – I left Victory today feeling very accomplished! I choose victory because everytime I step into class I learn something new even if I’ve already done it 100 times before. I recommend Victory because its not only fun but because they really want to see you succeed and become better. Victory has awakened something in me I never thought I had! Thank you Victory!

Victory is my second home. It has brought me in as one of its own and has shaped me into a man. I have learned more from victory in a year and half than i have leanred from anyone else. The training you get is not like another other you have had. It is world class and the moves are taught by a world class man, Dion Riccardo. I have so much respect for this man and his teachings. He is very un selfish and always looks to better the academys. I promise you that if you train at victory you become a better person.

My best day at Victory Martial Arts was when I received my white belt. That may not sound like a big accomplishment to some, but for me, I accomplished something. I committed to the academy and achieved the first of many steps. I chose Victory Martial Arts because of the disciplined instruction, the fine instructors and how comfortable the instructor and the other classmates made me feel. I recommend Victory Martial Arts for the same reasons. As a women, the workout has been fantastic! I never had gotten in this good of shape. Moreover, I have a lot of fun working with the men, I have a better understanding of what I would be up against in a situation where I may need to defend myself. As a team we visited the Orland Park location and trained with their team. I felt just as comfortable there as I do in my home base of Oswego. Thank you victory for such a wonderful opportunity to train, push myself to new limits, and have a good time doing it!

My best day at Victory was the first day I walked through its doors.Being a part of this school has changed my life dramatically.I have made some great friends here.Mr.Riccardo and his staff are among the best mentors you will find-anywhere.Regardless of what level of martial arts you are at,from beginner to advanced,Victory is a school that will challenge you and develop you in a positive manner. What makes Victory so special is not just the attitude of the instructors, but also its students.I would not think of training myself or my children anywhere else. Thanks for everything,Victory.

I chose Victory Martial Arts Academy because I believe their instructors, curriculum for training, and guiding principles for the academy are second to none. My best day at Victory so far(only 3 months) would definitely be when I realized that I found the training home that I was looking for.

1. My best day at Victory was…The first day after i met with Master Riccardo and realized that i was inline with Gods will for my life and that some of the desires of my heart (Martial arts, health, and fitness) were being met by placing me At Victory. I could fulfill my assignment in this Co-Mission…. 2. I choose Victory because… I am equally yolked with Master Riccardo and the Instructors. This was extremely important for me because i am not choosing Victory as a place to only learn MMA, i choose Victory becasue i can grow and help others grow in spirit, mind and body. 3. I recommend Victory Martial Arts Because… no matter how level headed and on the right path we all may believe we are, Victory will always help you take yourself to the next level. You will grow in more ways than you expect. Hard heart or soft heart you will be loved and love others.

Victory Martial Arts has excellent instructors, solid programs, and is dedicated to the progress of its students. The training is extremely rewarding, but above all, the instructors make it fun!

1. My best day at Victory is always the next. Each day I come to class I learn something new to improve my technique. I look forward to each class and enjoy the knowledge that is shared, not only from the instructors, but also from the fellow students. 2. I choose Victory because the classes are structured in a way that allows you to learn the monthly curriculum while also providing you the opportunities to expand and learn more at your own pace. 3. I recommend Victory Martial Arts because it has a great learning atmosphere, knowledgeable instructors, and friendly students that help each other reach their goals.

Most people would say their best day at victory was when they first walked through the door. The day I walked through the door wasn’t the best day I had there. The best day I had at Victory Martial Arts so far would be the day it hit me what I really found, realizing where I was. I found some place that would forever change the person I was into the person I am today. I couldn’t believe how much I needed this in my life. I know I needed something different in my life, I felt the need of a challenge, something to push me way past my boundaries. I chose victory because I needed something more in my life and I looked up the ratings online and I decided to try it out, I can’t believe such a simple choice could have such a drastic impact on my whole life. I recommend vicory because honestly it has forever changed my life. It fills such a void, a void you dont even know you have. Victory isn’t a place you can force on someone.. it’s a choice you really have to make on your own. I want all of my friends to try it but you really have to make the decision on your own if you want that life challenge.
by Sean of Naperville, IL
My best day at Victory was when I tried out for the comp team and pushed myself harder than I though I could and made the team. I chose Victory because I was looking for places to study MMA and when I came to this site it really encouraged me to just go for it and push myself to new lengths. I recommend Victory Martial Arts because it pushes you to be the best you can be in every area of your life, the people here genuinely care about your personal growth. Another reason I love Victory is because there are no egos, everyone is genuinely trying to help everyone else out and make them better.
by Jason of Chicago, IL
1. My best day at Victory is any day I can push myself and walk out feeling like I gave all I can. 2. I chose Victory MMA because it appeared to be a school run by genuine, concerned people who loved to teach and impart knowledge. It was apparent that Victory was run to better its’ students, and not for the students to better the school. So far, several months in, I’ve seen nothing to prove my initial opinion wrong. 3. I’d recommend Victory MMA (and have done so) because of the diverse knowledge base and the supportive environment. The school not only has a supportive instructor network, but the majority of the students are committed to bettering themselves and their fellow students without ego, selfishness, or pride.
by Neree of Forest Park, IL
I recommend Victory because training will allow you to find a state of mind that many can never achieve. You will be calm, focused, and those annoyances in life will just fade to the background. That feeling of peace is worth so much to me.
by NYQUILL of Orland Park, IL
I have only taken one class at victory but have been doing MMA for three years and have been to three gyms and I think I found my home. In my very short time at victory I can tell that this gym has there stuff together classes seem to be ran to a tee which is a breath of fresh air for me. The only negative I can see at victory compared to other gyms is the pay structure and class restrictions if it was not for that Victory would have maybe been my first and last gym with that beign said im glad to have finally joined victory and plan to be part of this great family for many years to come.
by Rhett Wheeler of Naperville, IL
My best day at VMAA was when I was offered an opportunity to learn to be an instructor. It really opened up new doors in my life that are greatly appreciated. I choose Victory, because the academy is run by people that I have a tremendous amount of confidence in. I recommend Victory, because it keeps me in tremendous shape, I acquire a great deal of knowledge, and I have made many close friends as a result of my decision to train there.
by Connor of Chicago, IL
My best day at Victory is everyday, I am always progressing and learning more. It’s one of the highlights of my week leading up to a training session. I choose Victory because of the instructors and my fellow students. I recommend Victory because if your looking to train hard or just lose a few pounds, Victory kicks you into gear and motivates you.Victory Martial Arts builds you not only on the outside, but on the inside as well.
by Tony Stella of Forest Park, IL
wMy best day at Victory was every time I stepped through the door to train, there were plenty of days I felt tired or lazy and just plain didn’t feel like putting forth the effort, but these were the special days, the days that I got the most out of training. A very wise man told me one day that, “Everyday we train is a good day” I truly believe to this day that this statement is more than 100% accurate. I chose Victory because I was referred there by a very good friend to me and to Mr. Riccardo. I had started to learn some basic BJJ at work on my lunch hour, after a few months our schedules had changed and we could no longer continue to work together. My friend suggested that I check Victory out. It just so happened that the Orland school was just about to open, so my friend Dave said, I’ll meet you there for the seminar and we can work together, I agreed. The day of the seminar, my friend could not make it but he suggested I go anyway. I was thinking to myself, maybe I just won’t go but the smarter half of me prevailed and I went with a nervousness just like most of us have at the start of a new job or the first day of a a new school but walking through the front doors was probably the single best choice I have ever made. This wasn’t just an MMA seminar, it wasn’t just a school, it wasn’t just a place where you would go to learn how to hurt someone. It was something special, it was the start of an education in a very controlled learning environment and more importantly it was the start of a new family. Clearly this was the right choice. I would recommend Victory to anyone from the youngest of children( I have 3 of them there- all girls) to the oldest man or woman. Victory is for everyone. The education you walk away with from there is fantastic, and it’s just not the MMA part of it but it is also how you use what you learn and incorporate it into your everyday lifestyle. The instructors as well as the other students are awesome and they take the time to work with you if you don’t understand something. Watching some of the movements is such a rush and the littlest of details can go from making someone say….Ouch that hurts to please let me go before I cry. These little details are what the Victory staff are trained to point out so that your game can go to the next level.
by HABIV of Orland Park, IL
Victory Martial Arts Academy provides practical mixed martial arts instruction. The staff is knowlegeable, professional, & friendly. Most importantly, students and staff maintain a very high level of mutual respect so that all students from the most skilled to the beginners, male & female, in great shape & in not so great shape, young & old, feel welcome. The academy definitely has a family atmosphere.

my best day at victory was the day I made White Belt because it showed me the path i had choosen (mma) was the right path to build focus and the determination i needed to become a champion I choose Victory because i felt like i can start a new family who can teach me to push myself towards my goals I recommend victory if you are looking for a place to feel at ease , a place to take stress away, a place to learn more about your body in ways that you cant imagine, and its fun!

Both my son and I attend Victory Martial Arts Academy. It’s fun, it’s challenging, it’s rewarding, it has a family friendly atmosphere, and it’s an amazing experience that’s well worth the effort. My wife says joining Victory is one of the best things I’ve ever done. At age 46 I am in the best shape of my life. My overall confidence has skyrocketed. My son can’t wait to get to Victory. It has helped his level of maturity and respect. He has fun and he stays fit. I’m grateful to be a part of the Victory team and family.

My best day At victory was when i tryed out for the comp team.It was the hardest but most fulfilling day of my life. I choose victory because i had my first mma fight and every person in my warm up room was a part of victory and i saw how all of them won and i lost and how well there coaching staff prepared them and i wished that was me. I recomend victoy because they help you acheive whatever it is you want inside mma and outside in your everyday life. I have taken a lot of the things i have learned and used them in life and the reward has been amazing.
by Jack of Naperville, IL
I choose Victory because of it’s kind and helpfull staff. Unlike other schools Victory instructors are real teachers and not bully’s (Cobra kai). It’s like a family and you feel like you belong. I recommend Victory to anyone that wants to learn MMA or to get into shape… With no contact needed it’s a safe way to learn.
by Jonathan Legania of Chicago, IL
One of the best times at Victory was about a week ago at my second Comp team practice where I was sparring with someone more advanced than myself. I got roughed up pretty good and I had a good amount of bruises, but the work out and core strength increase I received by time the next class came around made me feel so good, I knew it was all worth it. I love my surroundings and am very comfortable with the people I work with at Victory. They have helped me transcend my entire lifestyle. They make me feel as if we are all family and even if our goals are different, they give us all the same motivation: Success! I would recommend anyone who is willing to work hard and be pushed harder to achieve whatever their goals are. If you have the will, Victory Martial Arts can show you the way.
by Moe AJ of Forest Park, IL
I chose Victory because, well at first, it was conveniently close to my house and I wanted to try out this “mma” thing. However, I had many other options I could have tried as well. I eventually chose and stayed with Victory for many reasons, but I’ll list two here. First, the instruction was great and second to none. Techniques were worked on until perfected (or close to) before overflowing your mind with the next set of techniques. That is way more important that people think. When that is done, techniques and moves become like second nature and flow without much thought. Second, Victory became my second family. Its one thing to have training partners but another to have training partners and instructors that generally care about your well being and certain personal hardships, if any. That means a lot, more than one can explain. My best day at Victory was actually one of my worse practices. I had not trained in a few weeks due to travel at work. I got back in the gym and performed way below the level of my abilities skill wise, and my cardio was horrible, keeping in mind its usually pretty good. I never quit in that practice though, I kept on trucking, as painful as it was to do so. I got my butt kicked in sparring and in the strength and conditioning. So, what should I take from that? Am I now all of a sudden horrible at this and should stop doing it? No. Bad days happen to everyone. This one was particularly bad, but it was my best day because I never wanted to perform like that again! It helped motivate me to become way better, focus on the little things and the basics to improve my game. It helped me take instruction better, and learn from my mistakes more clearly. Its helped me do everything in my power every practice to peform as best as I can. On top of all that, I received nothing but encouragement from my instructors and training partners at that practice, and that means a lot. I reccommend Victory Martial arts because of all of the above reasons. If you’re looking for top of the line instruction amongst people who want you to reach your top potential and goals, Victory is the place to be!
by Colin Gallagher of Orland Park, IL
I recommend Victory Martial Arts because it is a constructive fun way to learn MMA and get in shape. Every time I go there I get a ton of encouragement and know I am getting better. It is a form of physical exercise that I look forward to every Monday and Wednesday.

My best day at victory was making the comp team. I got messed up in drugs and partying and lost everything. I also lost my passion for life. God restored my life but i was still missing something but i didn’t know what it was. When i got to victory i had been clean for several years. But i was really out of shape and had high blood pressure. After 2 months of training i was off my blood pressure medecine and felt amazing! I found my passion at victory! I should be dead, so for some people its no big deal, but for me every stripe i get on my belt or making the comp team truly means something to me. I didn’t realize how much i missed training and the competition. I havn’t trained in awhile do to work, but my fiance wants me to get back soon cuz she said i’m much happier when i get home from practice. I definately recommend anyone to go there! From Mr. Ricardo to all the coaches, they are all true leaders and a class act!! Everyone is very encouraging and humble. It’s great for people who have never done it or for those that want to compete. I hope to see you all soon!!!

Hi my name is Chris and I chose Victory Martial Arts because they really seem more dedicated to their students than any other place. I feel appreciated and I love the feedback they give to better yourself. My best day at Victory was when I received my “Most Improved Student” award, not only did it help my confidence it really let me know that they keep a close eye on your training to help you get one step closer to your goals. I recommend Victory because it helps you get in great shape, you feel on top of the world after every lesson and provides you with a whole different look on life. The instructors break down alot of material so that way you understand better with different aspects. I haven’t felt this good about myself in a long time and people at home notice a big change in me personality and physically so THANK YOU VICTORY!!!

My best day at Victory so far has been my first day of technique class that began in early February. The teaching style and instructor(tim) was very knowledgeable and patiently showed me how to perform several various techniques. Not only did he show me how to do them, but he also helped me to understand the mechanics of why they work. I found this to be most interesting and it brought my confidence level to a higher point. I look forward to gaining more experience and proficiency in the dojo in the months/years to come.

I choose Victory over other places because they treated me like family. Also as bad as i was at first they still stuck by me and helped me out to get better.

I Choose Victory because I have known Sifu Riccardo for over 20 years & have the utmost confidence in any & all of the programs he has to offer. My best day at Victory was when Mr. Calderone said to me, “Master Riccardo said you can begin to prepare for your Black Belt test”. I do recommend Victory to anyone interested for many reasons including: It is a “Legitimate” MMA School with its roots from JKD, the original mixed martial arts created by Bruce Lee himself. The staff is like “Family”, patient, knowledgeable & actually cares about your well being.

What was your best day at Victory? My best day at Victory was the day I first walked into the academy because I knew my life was going to change. Why did you chose Victory? I chose Victory because I’ve known Sifu Dion most of my life and I’ve always respected and looked up to him. I knew he was someone special and wanted to learn all I can from him. Why would you recommend Victory to others? I recommend Victory because you’ll learn more than martial arts from them. They change lives!

Finding Victory was like finding a hidden gem for me. My best day at Victory was in my 2nd month when I realized that I would be able to stick with the program despite my bad knees. This is possible because Victory utilizes an extremely intelligent curriculum. I choose Victory because I was immediately impressed with the skill, professionalism, and friendly attitude of the staff. I would recommned Victory to anyone because Victory offers superior staff, instruction & facilites.

I have been training at the Oswego location for two months now and have loved every minute of it. I am a big fan of MMA and to be training with Team Dion Riccardo has been a wonderful experience.

In my first month of joining Victory I have noticed a great difference in many parts of my life. I have elevated spirits and energy. Physically I am already seeing and feeling positive changes. Additionally, I have made new friends and feel very comfortable in the school.

1. My best day at Victory was… I asked my boys that, and any day they get a new belt is a great day. 2. I choose Victory because… We live in Peotone Illinois (there are many martial arts places between here and there)and we drive out to Orland Park becasue of the Sensei’s that instruct the class. They keep the class fun and the kids (we are in the youngest group)can stay focused because Sesei Adam, and Sensei Ryno keep the class ecxiting for the kids. 3. I recommend Victory Martial Arts Because… We chose Victory for our boys because we heard great things about Sensei Grisco. All we heard was true and he is fantastic with kids. My boys are 7 and 9 and they have been there a little over a year. They have learned so much and their self esteem has improved and so has their discipline and focus. It is amazing how this program help out. Thank you Sensei Adam for being wonderful with the kids and holding their attention and making the class a fun place to learn. Less

My best day at victory was my first class, because I had no clue what I had gotten myself into. I chose victory because my friend invited me to try it. I recommend Victory martial arts because it is a good workout and a ton of fun.
by Kim Cozzi of Naperville, IL
My name is Kim Cozzi. I came to Victory almost 8 years ago in an effort to find an exercise program that wouldn’t bore me. I was never very athletic and I wanted to work out to lose some baby weight. Walking through those doors was the beginning of a personal transformation for me, physically and mentally. I fell in love with the training. I always felt welcomed and encouraged by the staff and challenged by the curriculum. I worked at it for several years (and several more babies) and began to feel that it was more than an enjoyable hobby. I have Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed about 6 months of training. My eldest son took my training time while I recovered after my first episode which left me in the hospital blinded in both eyes. Through the grace of God (and some good medical intervention) I recovered my vision and continued to train. Having MS is difficult and often leaves me very fatigued. I believe with all my heart that the training and support I receive at Victory maximizes my health. I was never just a client at Victory. I was family. My problems and struggles were shared by my fellow classmates and instructors. Those relationships sustained me as much as the training. I now have 3 of my 6 children enrolled. My eldest son just achieved his second degree black belt this summer. The benefits to his physical well-being and emotional development are clear to me and my husband. At some point I realized that I had progressed in rank far enough to consider training for my black belt. I never thought of myself in that way. I trained because I had come to love it and need it. We have a saying at the gym, that your training time is “the best hour of the day”. It’s true, and sometimes it’s the best 2 or 3 hours of the day. I trained for my belt with my instructor, Anthony Buoniconti. We worked our guts out for about 6 months to prepare. Training for and achieving the belt was the hardest and most rewarding work I’ve ever done next to raising my children. During the test, I broke my toe in the first round of sparring. I never thought of postponing the test – thinking about retraining was more overwhelming than continuing with the injury. We went for 14 rounds total of stand-up and grappling. The pain was crazy at times but I got through it with my teammates’ support. I’m pretty sure that when I die, I’ll spend at least a little time remembering that day and it’ll still be sweet. I started helping out in classes as an instructor’s assistant during my black belt training. I loved it immediately. It was awesome to get on the path of a new student and walk with them as they began their own martial arts journey. It feels like a priviledge every time to get on the floor and encourage my students and help them find ways to push past what they think are obstacles in their training or give support in issues of their private lives. Since achieving my belt last summer I have trained another student to test for his belt. That was really rewarding and exciting. I feel that I keep learning more than I am able to teach. I’ve just begun training another student for her belt next year. I’m thrilled and honored to walk with her on this part of her journey. I know now that it will also enhance my own skills in ways I can’t forsee yet. There are days that my illness makes it hard to get out of bed. I never allow it to stop me from getting in to train. There are times that I literally sit in my car before entering and cry because I don’t know how I will find the strength to get through that session. In the end, I always get in there and get through it and am left feeling grateful for the chance to keep fighting. One day I may be physically limited in a way that will make it impossible to train and I don’t ever want to miss an opportunity to train when I’m still able. It really is that valuable to me. Obviously I tell others about it and recommend it. Why wouldn’t you tell people about one of the best things you ever found? I look forward to training at Victory as long as God allows. Being a student at Victory has taught me how to be a survivor and thrive despite the many challenges life throws at me. Having that physical outlet and the emotional support is a dynamite combination. I realize I have rattled on about this, so I’ll stop. There are a lot of examples I could share but I always tell people to come and try it and see the value for themselves. People come to lose weight or learn a skill they saw on a MMA fight but come away shocked about how the training affects them so personally and so deeply. I had a student tell me once that the gym literally saved his life. He wasn’t talking about surviving a street fight. I know exactly what he meant because it saved and enhanced my life too. Thanks for your patience in reading this. Less

As a Manager and Instructor at Victory Martial Arts, my experience has been priceless! The wisdom that I have gained through training has not only given me functional self-defense tools, but has built my Character to be rock solid. Victory has taught me to lead by example, always be diligent, and to never quit. I have also learn life lessons from students as well as learning how to be adaptable to each individual to tailor what Victory has to offer to their needs and unexpressed wishes. Being in the position that I am in takes constant training and maintenance (Physically, Mentally and Spiritually) and is not taken lightly. My hope is that each person who comes in contact with my wisdom and teaching will leave transformed.

I’ve been training at Victory Martial Arts for a little over 3 months now and have been loving every minute of it! The teaching staff here is wonderful. They are able to teach at all levels so that experienced students don’t get bored, but yet new students are able to keep up. Everyone from the staff to the other students are very friendly. They make you feel like part of the Victory family from day one. Overall, it’s been a great experience that I look forward to continuing.

I started going to Victory when they just had the one school in oak park on madison st. I was introduced to the school by a friend of mine and joined her on one of their seminars at a ranch in central illinois, I was very impressed with what they were teaching and decided to sign up. I was not let down by any means. The teachers at Victory are extremely knowledgeable in the field of martial arts and I found myself quickly getting more and more confident in my self defense abilities through their guidance. I would recommend Victory to anyone that told me they wanted to start taking martial arts classes.

Thank you Master Ricardo and Victory Martial Arts

There are no words to propperly describe what Victory means to me and my children. They go way beyound just teaching MMA. Morals, self control, self esteem, self discipline are encorporated into every class. It’s not just words, it the actions the instructors demonstrate to the students as well. You become a family member at Victory. On a personal note, fighting cancer right now and trying to get the children there is often difficult. I have not once been there and not had an instructor ask how I am. They give my children the support they need as they too deal with this disease. Victory instructors…… you are our FAMILY!!!!!

I have been there for over a year and a half working with the Women’s Bootcamp and I love every minute of it. I am starting to notice changes in my body that I haven’t been able to see with other workout regimens and I hope to continue this as long as I can.

Attending Victory Martial Arts has really transformed me physically, mentally and just inspired my young son who struggled being bully on a daily basis. As a single mom this frustrates me on many levels. Trying to find what to do logic for my son. He tried every sports but no interests. So as I attend the classes he does come along with me and watches me take the classes from a sitting distance.
So as for myself, the fit club doesn’t work for me due to non-personable like a number –just plainly lost in this fit guru environment-clubbing feeling. I wasted so much money on monthly fee’s and barely went to do lack of motivation. I grew up as a tom boy. I did every sports related from gymnastics of 10-years to volleyball to swimming and baseball. Now as an adult, a mother of two –it has derailed my life physically and mentally. So I knew deep down that I needed a contact sports to get me back on my feet again. I’ve tried the cardio-kicking boxing but I felt I wasn’t getting the same result and not the most out of the real kick-boxing. So I gave up again.
About 3-weeks ago, my life wasn’t going as plan and many emotions running up/down and started searching the web one more time and found Victory Martial Arts. At first. I was skeptic like most would be after having many disappointment but after visiting the web site and listening to the testimonial videos especially from the women segments; it has caught my attention very well. So I email of contact of interest and the next thing I knew I was talking to Danny directly who has inspired me and explained my concerns and openly invited me to take on the challenge of the free-trail.
My first day experience I was over-whelmed silently but I told myself that I have to do this for me and my son. I figure if my son watches me in doing this that he would want to do the same. So now, 2-weeks has gone by, and let me say, doing Martial Art Kick-boxing is my jackpot. I’m hooked. I looked forward to learning new technique’s each week and the focus detailed of body movement and strength. My coaches pushes me to that level that I need to be at. I need to be pushed hard and not once has failed me. This is exactly what I needed to do. I finally found a place where I am comfortable in a family oriented surrounded by people who are serious about getting back in shape for body and mind. I am also glad to say, my son is now attending the kids classes….This is a big Plus!!! I am so greatful to finally found a place where results are happening. Thank you Victory Martial Arts and Staff. The staff really go above and beyond to make sure everything is on target for you.

Absolutely. Taking Victory Martial Arts has built my confidence back into my life. Its taking me many months to find it again. I am one of those people that put myself last just to please everyone else first. From then on, during those hot summer months–I was able to exceed my goal of losing 30+ pounds and be happy looking in the mirror again without beating myself down. Now I love me again.
Back in May, when I first joined Victory Martial Arts my self-esteem hit rock bottom. I was trying to overcome a roller coaster relationship that lasted 5-years for which finally ended badly. I didn’t realized how one person could have some much power and control over my life. It literally took months of physical transformation as well as mental change to reflect my goals. In going through the boot-camp session then moving up in class; I had made an accomplished stepping stone to gaining control over my life and never put myself last for no one again.
I do notice that I need to set goals. I need to continue to create stepping stone in order for me to grow and be at the level I need to be at. I would like to better my strength and techniques. I do have personal training session with Danny(Forest Park) on Wednesday’s to help perfect my techniques and strengthen my weak area. I do work well in receiving that one-on-one with Danny. He boosts my confidence by pushing me to the level of “YES” you can motivation that I need. I need to be pushed to the maximum potential that I know I can do. I look forward going to Luke Morris class each week. He has so much insight on technique style that I immediately have a head rush “HOORAH” like a warrior preparing for a fight. He has such discipline control for which I would love to have one day. But I have to overcome my nervousness while in class. I tend to be hard on myself and feel I am not at speed with everyone else. It can be intimating at times but this is something that I am trying to work on. Its like freezing up for a test feeling. I think its from trying to remember the curriculum and not forgetting the steps during progress checks. But with the help with Danny & Luke, I don’t think much of that spotlight feeling anymore. I just do it.
My friends and families has told me that they’d too seen a positive change in me while attending Victory Martial Arts. Everyone says, I am in a good place now by not having any distractions in my life that can bring me down; with the power of God strength he gotten me through this challenge’s by placing me of where I need to be at. I truly believe Victory Martial Arts has given me a reason to get up and go to class each week. I met some amazing friends there. I look forward to bonding with them each time I go to class.
Please let me know of the plan of actions I need to take in setting the goal of becoming a Black Belt. I really enjoy the contact sports of Martial Arts. I would never go back to any workout club –a gym number system feeling again. I found a place where I am at the most comfortable I can be at and see results happening.
I look forward to hearing from you.

I am completely satisfied with my experience at victory. Since I started I have learned so much. Mentally I have become stronger and stronger. I push myself harder each and everyday and look forward to a great training session. I hope to join the comp team once I have learned all the needed skills. Training has taught me to push myself and go my hardest. When I started about a month ago, yes I was in pretty good shape and had a good work ethic, but now I am in much better shape and push myself so much harder than I could have before. I realize that in order to achieve anything great or worthwhile you must put all you can into it. Thank you for all I have learned and I look forward to much more great training!

Yes i would definitly recomend victory. The amount of attention you get is Amazing. You’re not just a number or a student sitting in the back but a friend. Great one on one attention. the classes are meant to push and excite you.

1. How are you enjoying your classes?
i really love my classes, even though ive been at forest park since August and its been over three months/ 6 weeks, the classes are awesome! my instructors are fantastic! kim has been a great asset and knowing that i am getting in the cage in august she has taken me under her wing and has given me some good pointers and some extra attention not just technique wise but also mentally. she is a phenomenal person and i am thankful for her support and great teaching skills. omar is the coach that has gotten me to where i am today, i owe him so much for all the success ive had in the tournaments i have been in. all three of my golds i have because of his teachings. i cant just say that it is him i need to thank because ever since i started at forest park everyone there has helped me evolve into the fighter i am today, especially with the ground game. when jill found out i wanted to compete she took me under her wing and i spent long hours at the gym learning, the guys in class were not aftraid to roll with me like they were at lisle. i love the atmosphere there and the comradery is awesome. nick dye has been doing a very good job of teaching grappling since omar is gone, he is a great asset that shouldnt be lost or overlooked.
2. Is our staff treating you well? Are they respectful? On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 is excellent) How would you rate Victory Martial Arts Academy?
FOREST PARK STAFF IS AWESOME!!! id rate them all 13′s on a scale of 1-10, as far as your academy, its not my cup of tea, every person i tell about where i started my training i just say forest park, thats all they need to know =]

It’s been more than a month now since I’ve joined Victory. I have been attending the kickboxing and MMA classes. I played college volleyball and track so I wanted to try something new but still stay competitive and active. So I googled MMA near Tinley and found Victory. From the moment they called me after the survey to the moment I walked in the gym I felt so welcomed. Rhett and Alyssa have been great instructors. Alyssa really breaks it down for you and answers any questions you have. Rhett notices when your technique may be off and makes sure to stop you and corrects you. Not only that, he teaches me how to push myself differently at each workout to ensure that I get a great cardio workout as well as continue to improve on my technique. After working all day, it is great to look forward to something to release stress and energy. And on the plus side, I have my wedding coming up and have already lost 10 pounds!! I have recommended victory to all my friends and family and so far have gotten 4 people to follow my lead!

I have had the privilege of knowing Mr Riccardo and training with him (more off then on unfortunately) since the early 1990′s. Mr Riccardo possesses the positive attribute, among many, to take complicated techniques and simplifying them in a way that is not only easy to understand, but easy to apply in a real life situation. I am so happy to be back training at Victory! Thank you Mr Riccardo for sharing your experience and knowledge with me. Great seminar today…
by Yoel Warda of Orland Park, IL
Thanks for the quick email, even if it may be a automatic one, I still appreciate it. Any information regarding age requirements for classes and prices for beginners. I’m 17, turning 18 in August. My names Yoel Warda. I weigh around 225, and my goals are to learn to defend myself and the people I love. I’ve always had a passion for MMA, although I’ve never really had any legitimate duels, I’ve always taken interest in the different arts and forms of it. Coming from an underprivileged family, any leniency with the monthly costs, or discounts on required gear, no matter how small, will help me achieve my dream of winning my first amateur bout, being fit and comfortable in my own body, and knowing that I have the mindset and determination to allow me to live a long and happy life. You really have no idea the amount of dedication and time I am willing to put into the sport. You may get a lot of these type of stories, but I assure you, and I WILL one day prove to you the amount of dedication and motivation I have when I’m a part of a team. Many think MMA is a solo sport, you vs. another animal, but that is far from the truth. MMA is team vs. team, and I wish and hope that I will one day proudly represent Victory MMA. Every review I read has given the team huge credit and props. Thank you for all you do. I love the sport and hope you’ll consider giving someone like me a chance at training with the great people over at Victory.

I have already taken advantage of the free introductory program. Our son, Myles has participated in a few classes at the Maxwell Street Chicago location. Soon after our initial e-mail correspondence, I received a call from Sensei Anthony and we set up an appointment. I am pleased say that our son who is one of the youngest students in the class is learning a lot so far. He is challenged to work hard each time he comes. The instructors are great with the kids and seem to genuinely care for each of them. Therefore, my husband and I are planning to enroll our son into the academy.

First, I want to say, Thank you. Having Danny & Brian teach the Mon, Tues & Wed. classes has been such a blessing to attend. They are a great dynamic dual to witness. They bring intimate back to the class sessions. I do look forward attending classes each week. As a student I can appreciate a detailed step by-step demonstration. It truly helps me as well as newer students coming in for the first time. Today, since being back from Medical leave I’ve gained new friends and also great seeing familiar faces again(like home away from home feeling). I truly enjoyed being in training again.
Even so, my journey continues, preparing for my Cornea Transplant surgery on Wed., Oct 24th, Kim & Danny has went above and beyond to prepare me for my blue test for Monday, Oct. 22nd just days before my surgery. I truly appreciate their patients by helping remembering my steps while seeing with 1 healthy eye and not let that stop me as I continue to push forward.
Your staff makes Victory that much more enjoyable to train at VMA.
Thanks for everything

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to train with some of the best people that I’ve ever met I also deeply appreciate the opportunity. I really would like you to know you have great people here everybody so far is made me feel like I’m family especially Shawn, Phil, and Anthony B.

I love the classes they are a ton of fun, y’all have great teachers and I am very thankful for your services. Im not sure what you may mean by procedures but i am most unsure of the ground techniques. Im going to start staying for the jiu jitsu classes. First month hasnt been easy for me otherwise i would have stayed for them more, I do strength training with weights every morning for up to 3 hours.
I’ve noticed a huge increase in my endurance, technique, and overall physical ability which can only be attributed to you and your teachers.
I think I understand the belt system from what I’ve seen in the gym, but im not really in it for the right to claim a black belt. The belt im looking for is made of gold and says ufc on it. I know you’ve prolly heard that before, and personally i dont really like saying it to people, i dont even like to mention it because all it is, is talking nothing more. I’ve got to do it, or atleast try do to it if nothing else. First time i looked up your address on my gps i noticed y’all were right off a road named after a Roosevelt, i thought it was kind of funny, theres a quote by Teddy Roosevelt I ran across about a year ago I think about on almost a daily basis its something like, “It is not the critic who counts, not the one who points out how the strong man stumbles, the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, if he fails, atleast he fails while daring greatly, so that his place may never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat. The joy of living is his, who has the heart to demand it!” im sure by using the word “arena” he was referring to life in general, but its still something I try to remind myself.
Once again I would like to thank you for the opportunity and the privilege of learning from you all. And thank you for your time.
by Bob Myers of Forest Park, IL
I truly enjoy the Victory program, I mean family!!! I feel much better mentally and physically. I would love to continue my training and to learn as much as possible. I would love to be a Black belt some day, but right now I am just happy to keep getting hash marks and blue stripes on my White Belt!!!! I wish I had the ability to dedicate more time to the program (its been busy on the streets) but I would be willing to do whatever I can to make myself better. I would love to talk to you some day to pick your brain and if that ever happened it would be a true honor for me. Thank you very much for always following up on us. I wish you and your family the best!!!!

I am loving every bit of class! Every time I am always looking forward to learning something new, and ready to push myself further than the last class! Honestly, i have been happier in general since i started taking these classes! As soon as class is over i start to look forard to the next class like i cant get enough of it. That feeling of being exhausted because you know you worked hard is one of the best feelings i get and i love having it! Paul at Orland Park is a great teacher! The love and enthusiasm he has for the sport is truly admirable, and only makes me want to push me even harder!

The lunchtime program taught by instructors from Victory Martial Arts has provided Hatch students with valuable life skills. They have learned and practiced goal setting, that applies not only to kicking and breaking a board, but also to doing homework and chores. I would highly recommend this program to students of all ages.
by Elisabeth Patterson of Naperville, IL
I am Elisabeth Patterson and I teach Physical Education at a K through 5 school in a Chicago suburb. My students had the experience of having Mr. Ricardo and his staff, come to my school and introduce Karate. It was a great experience for my students, because not only was it absolutely fun and exercise, it also included a lot of character education. I enjoyed seeing some students with difficulties rise to the occasion and shape up. I would definitely recommend this program.
by Tim Edwards of Chicago, IL
Hello, my name is Tim Edwards and I am writing this letter on behalf of Victory Martial Arts and their staff. My now eleven-year-old son has been attending class at this facility for approximately three years. When he started, he was a little timid and lacking in self-confidence. Within this time, I have seen so much improvement in his confidence level as well as in his ability to deal with everyday situations. I credit this to the instructors and staff of Victory Martial Arts. I would strongly and wholeheartedly recommend Victory Martial Arts t o all who are interested in helping their children learn valuable life lessons and self-defense.

I wanted to get out of the bad things in my life and get away from some of the people that I use to hang out with. I wanted to do something with my life and not be a loser or just an average man.
I always felt I was destined for something greater than a 9 to 5 job. I went to victory because after I read up on it and checked it out it just seemed right. I felt like this was it, this was my chance to do everything I have ever wanted all in one. I did a lot of stupid things in my past, I needed to change the way I lived and they way I looked at life.
Since I started training at victory I have found that. After reading the posts by Master Riccardo it really helped realize the important things in life and life is never going to be easy. The instructors at victory are amazing people. It’s nice to see them open up to and show they trust you. It’s also nice to know I can relate to them and there people just like me. They are a great assistance to me and they help me learn the moves and techniques the right way, and that’s what I want. I like the fact that they try to make you better and that’s why they’re there.
The reason anyone should start training is not just because you want to be a mixed martial artist but you can also change your way of life. You change the way you live and the way you are for the best. You get to train with different people and make new friends and know that you were adopted by a big family. It’s a good feeling going into training and people say hi to you and joke with you, but they also push you to your limit to make you better.
Victory is like my second home and I am a better person since joining victory.
by Vince Sterling of Orland Park, IL
My name Is Vince Sterling, I am currently in CDS 1, and am a completely different version of myself since joining victory martial arts, a better version I might add.
I started training at victory for a number of reasons. One, my consuming of alcohol had gotten completely out of control, and before I know it, I had gone from a lean football and hockey player to an overweight nobody who had no confidence in himself and was consistently getting into trouble. Since joining the family I have already made a set of new friends, lost thirty pounds, but also found some light at the end of the tunnel. I finally have a newfound confidence in myself and am a better person in and out of victory. I stay away from the bars, and dedicate myself to the victory family, the gym and to the well being of myself.
The instructors are nothing short of perfect, never afraid to answer a question over or to repeat a drill, or even in my case, give advice on life in which Mr. Calderone pretty much saved me from becoming a lunatic. It shows that they care about me and everybody else, its unreal how this really has become a second home and family to me.
I think whoever is looking for a lifestyle change for any reason should come to VMMA, whether it’s to get in shape, to learn the arts, to stay out of trouble, or even to make new friends, victory has all the tools to make you the best person you can be.
by Paul Vossel of Naperville, IL
After checking out many different martial arts schools, after my first class I knew victory was the school for me.
Even though it was my first time there, it felt like I had been there for years. Everyone is very friendly, there are no egos, but the classes are still very challenging.
by Omar Lara of Chicago, IL
When I first arrived at Victory Martial Arts I didn’t know what to expect.
I was nervous because I was new at Mixed Martial Arts and I though people would just look at me and think I was just another newbie.
After the first couple days I started to feel comfortable and people were real nice especially the instructors. My parents have told me to try and find a new place to go to because to go to Victory I have to drive 30 minutes, but I don’t want to because I like it here and I don’t care that I have to drive that far.

I’ve been in the academy for 2 months and the training is unbelievable. I started out just wanting to learn the sport to get into shape and now I want to be a martial artist. Since I’ve been training my stamina and endurance are high. I haven’t felt this good since high school. I’d like to commend my instructors in helping me shed 18 lbs in such a short time. Thank you. I would recommend Victory Martial Arts to anyone wanting to get in great shape or just wanting to learn to defend your self using Bruce Lee’s philosophy of Jeet Kun Do.

My name is Tom Bonadurer, I’ve only been training for a week at victory and I can tell you I have never felt better physically, and mentally than I have in a long time.
In 2004 the lord blessed me with three wonderful kids (yes triplets) and the last 4 years my wife and I have dedicated all of our time, and energy into raising them. In that time I let my health falter binge eating, not sleeping, worrying about anything and everything, and 2007 was the worst my house caught fire and I lost my job due to cut backs.
The beginning of this year my wife and I decided to try to turn things around, and one of those things was our health, we joined a weight loss program in February, and as of today I have lost 65 pounds. I figured now was the time to try to get in shape and stay in shape. I have always been interested in MMA, but could not find the right training facility, they where either to far, or they seemed to be all about money, or just not the right fit.
That all changed when I came across the victory web site, seeing the testimonials and reading the description of victory from Master Riccardo, I was hooked, I signed up right away, the next day I got a call and I was in the gym the following Monday. From the moment I walked in I knew this was the place for me, Anthony the instructor is fantastic he answered all my questions and made me feel right at home, the training has been hard and he helps you every step of the way. When I come home after working out I feel stronger physically, and mentally, I have a sense of focus and A brighter outlook on life.
Everyone I have met from the staff to the guys I train with have been very supportive and are willing to help the “new guy” out and I am very appreciative of that, everyone here is family now. Someday I hope to work into competing but for now I am happy to train hard stay focused and learn everything I can to get to that point. Thank you Master Riccardo, thank you Anthony, for this fantastic program, and one hell of a workout.

My name is Cesar, I was a wrestler back in High School. I was one of the greatest things that ever happened to me. It change “The first class I showed up to, I knew my search was over.” I loved it and it changed my life!
Wrestling and my wrestling family was pretty much the only thing that kept me from transferring schools. Unfortunately once I got to college, there was no wrestling team or even a wrestling club. I’ve spent the last two years looking for something to make me feel that way again. As Anthony B. put it last Saturday after team practice, “This makes us feel alive.”
This is when I stumbled onto Victory. The first class I showed up to, I knew my search was over. I read what Master Dion wrote yesterday and I’m one to admit that I don’t take enough time to stop worrying about my life and problems. I will, however, admit that whenever I step foot in school, whether it be class or practice, I leave everything else at the door. Even when I’ve had a bad day and worry that I’m gonna lose focus and think about other stuff. Since I’ve been training at Victory I feel alive again. The whole experience is so motivating that even though I feel myself getting in better physical condition, I still leave with the same aches and feeling tired because I continue to raise the level of intensity and push myself.
I felt so at home, that I even tried out for the competition team after only four classes. I wanted that feeling so bad that I went for it and gave it what all I had. To my surprise I was invited to join the team. The instructors are phenomenal. They are great teachers who care about you and push you to do your best. They encourage you to go that extra mile to better your technique. They are also great to talk to and I consider them friends and family. It is because of their encouragement that I motivate myself to push harder and give it my best shot.
During my search for something to take the place of my wrestling experience, I tried boxing and I tried Jiu Jitsu. But they were only classes offered at Depaul and nothing compared to what we go through at Victory.
If people are looking to find a welcoming place were everyone treats you like family then Victory is the place to be. If you’re a “retired” athlete and working out on your own just isn’t cutting it, the workouts at Victory will leave you wanting more. If you have a thirst for competition, especially in a contact/combat sport then Victory is a great place to be at. If you’re tired of going through the motions of normal everyday life and want to experience something out of this world, then check Victory out. I for one have had to deal with these examples and more.
Every single one of these “challenges” have been met and surpassed while training at Victory. I truly believe that being at Victory will not only match, but will go beyond my wrestling experience and once again be a life changing experience. That’s a lot to say after all the years I’ve spent on the mat.

In the short time I have been involved in the class I have learned more practical skills than I did with 3 years of tai-kwon-do. The classes have been geared towards my line of work and have made me aware of the many dangers facing me in the street and how to defend myself from them. The confidence I have gained is priceless. I recommend this class to anyone serious about their job. It really makes you a better person.

When I started training martial arts, I had no idea that it would lead to this. I first began my training in 1999 around July, august and that’s when I met the man that would impact my life for years to come Dion Riccardo. Who knew that greatness was right in my backyard in oak park at that time I was in high school as a junior and I was just awe struck with Bruce Lee and when I found out he had a legit martial art system I just had to study it and that’s when I meet Mr. Riccardo the moment I stepped through the doors of 1005 Madison street I knew I found a home away from home. His confidence, poise and physical grace were and are second to none. I later found out that what I wanted at the beginning was completely different from what kept me there it wasn’t just self defense anymore it was more much more!
